Here's what to expect at your first physiotherapy visit:
1. INTRODUCTION
You will be escorted into one of our private rooms and our registered physiotherapist will introduce themselves.
2. INTERVIEW
Your physiotherapist will review the medical history form with you to clarify anything or to ask more in-depth questions. Your physiotherapist will continue the assessment with more specific questions about your pain or problem. You will have a chance to tell them anything else which you think might be relevant.
3. EXAMINATION
The next part of the visit is the physical examination. In order to properly assess your problem, the physiotherapist will need to see the part of the body causing the pain. Consequently, you may be asked to put on a pair of shorts or a tank top to properly expose the area to be examined.
4. EXPLANATION
At the completion of the assessment, your physiotherapist will explain to you their impression of your problem, and why it has occurred. They will educate you about the cause of your pain, and tell you what you will be asked to do in order to be an active partner in your recovery. Your physiotherapist will then outline various options for treatment, and the outcome you should expect. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, and are encouraged to do so, in order to have a better understanding of your problem.
5. TREATMENT
A treatment will be delivered following your assessment on the first day.
